The Mangrove House

Nestled within the mangrove belt of Parcem, this home was built to honour the landscape and positioned, deliberately, to let it in. Surrounded by dense foliage, river channels, and endless green. A place that reveals itself slowly, and only to those paying attention.

Designed by Sri Lankan architects Pradeep Kodikara and Jineshi Samaraweera of Sri Lanka, receivers of the Bawa Trust’s award for architectural excellence— with Kodikara having worked directly under Geoffrey Bawa until his passing in 2002. The result speaks in the vocabulary of tropical modernism. Full-height louvred timber screens. A cobbled courtyard that draws the outside in. Every room oriented toward the trees, the water, the shifting light of the Goan afternoon.
